One Sentence Dos and Don’ts

Some things in fashion are just as simple as yes or no. These are my personal opinions on fashion Dos and Don’ts that everyone should know. They’re so simple they can be explained in just one sentence (or two).
DO Coordinate colors within an outfit.
Even if you’re in a rush, matching the subtle green in the logo of your six-year-old hoodie with the green in your everyday sneakers will execute effort when there was barely any.
DON’T Wear more than three colors in an outfit.
Unless you’re still in grade school or wearing neutrals, over three colors in an outfit is a crime.
DO Allow contrasting styles
Sometimes, mixing daintier pieces with a street piece in the same outfit can help shake up your wardrobe when you “have nothing to wear.”
DON’T Mix patterns
Less is more; make a statement, don’t scream it.
DO Sustainable
Fast fashion is called “fast” fashion for a reason: stop throwing away your clothes after a month and start shopping at places that will have you keeping them for years.
DON’T Shein
Similar to before, it is essential to understand that “Shein” isn’t just a store; it has unfortunately become a type of style. If you have the ability to spend a little more and shop better brands, it’ll make a world of difference.
DO Accessorize
Accessorizing is arguably one of the most critical parts of an outfit. You could be wearing a black tee with black pants and feel boring; or you could wear a black tee with black pants, gold jewelry, a white bag, white headband and you’ll feel (and look) put together.
DON’T Feel pressured to wear brand names.
Fashion is all about your style and knowledge, not how much money you spend on your clothes. You could thrift a quality piece of clothing from goodwill and still look expensive, it’s all about how you wear it.
DO Quiet luxury
Wearing a full monogram Gucci outfit will definitely get you looks, but wearing a flattering piece with subtle branding will get you the right kind of looks. Trust me, people will know.
DON’T Try and be like everyone else
Find what inspires you, wear what you like, and feel confident.
